MS SQL Server
The MS SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDMS) developed by Microsoft. The MS stands for Microsoft. This type of database system is mainly used in retail stores. It allows other applications within a system to access data. Also, the applications that access data can be within a different or the same computing device. At the core of MS SQL Server is the SQL (Structured Query Language) programming language. This language is specifically created to manage data within an RDMS. Also, it allows MS SQL Server within a computer environment to manage a database for users and other applications as outlined by a server system. Therefore, it is safe to state that the MS SQL Server carries out the SQL implementation. Over the years, several versions of MS SQL Server systems have been developed. Additionally, there are several variants of this database for various working systems. For example, an MS SQL Server designed for a typical data center requires high support and significant scalability allowance. On the other hand, an express MS SQL Server is not as scalable and free for use.
MS SQL Server History
The first MS SQL Server was developed in 1988. Microsoft and other development companies created it. This database system put Microsoft on the map as a database developer. Soon after, several versions of the MS SQL were launched. Version 4.2 of the database was released in 1992. A quick version 4.21 was released as an update to 4.2. MS SQL Server 6.0 was released a few years after. It was the first version developed by only Microsoft. MS SQL Server 7.0 was the initial version to be written with C++ programming language. The data pages on the system were significantly enlarged. Multi-thready was enabled, which increased system performance. Since then, various other updates have been made to MS SQL Server. The latest version of the SQL server was released in late 2019. This version works with big data. Also, it has an excellent database engine that includes machine learning features.
MS SQL Server Features
The latest version of the MS SQL Server has several outstanding features. Some of the features are discussed below.
Intelligent Query System
It has an enhanced query system that works effectively and efficiently. Users can easily query their entire data system without duplicating or moving data. Additionally, its big data feature allows for the storage of data using machine learning.
Secure System
The MS SQL has the least vulnerabilities in the industry. It has a security system that allows the protection, classification, and monitoring of data. Security threats are quickly identified to the user. A user can also encrypt data enclaves, which contain sensitive information. At the same time, fast computations can be carried out along with complex filtering.
High Availability
It has a feature that allows for quick failover and minimizes recovery time. Therefore, database availability is exceptionally high, and recovery occurs despite the number of ongoing transactions.
